Introduction

Welcome to our unique Eco-Art Intervention training, a pioneering program that merges the realms of art, healing, and the environment. This course is meticulously crafted for mental health professionals eager to explore the creative processes that cultivate a profound connection with nature and enhance self-expression. Dive into the symbiotic relationship between your practice and the natural world, under the guidance of Renee Vanderstelt, LGPAT/LGPC, a Certified Nature Informed Therapist and Art Therapist.

Course Overview

  • Date and Time: Friday, October 11, 9am - 5pm ET

  • Format: Live Online CNIT Course, featuring live workshops, breakout groups, and hands-on art interventions.

  • Introduction to Eco-Art: Understanding the foundational concepts of Eco-Art Interventions and how they facilitate healing.

  • Nature Informed Art Interventions: Techniques and approaches to integrate nature into therapeutic practices, focusing on belonging, self-compassion, identity, and the elemental bridge between air and earth.

                              Nature informed art intervention (NIAI), participant workshop, breakout group, closure.

10:30 - 10:45 am: BREAK

10:45 - 12:30 pm: Self-compassion & hope (clay w/ natural materials) 

                              Nature informed art intervention (NIAI), participant workshop, breakout group, closure. 

   

12:30 - 01:30 pm: LUNCH (upload images from morning to GoogleDoc / for group viewing only)

01:30 - 03:00 pm: Identity: family/community & self 

                              Nature informed art intervention (NIAI), participant workshop, breakout group, closure. 

   

03:00 - 03:15 pm: BREAK

 

03:15 - 04:45 pm: Mobile: bridge between air & earth

                              Nature informed art intervention (NIAI), participant workshop, breakout group, closure. 

 

04:45 - 05:00 pm: Group closing reflection

Course Themes and Activities

  • Belonging & Connection: Engage in activities designed to deepen connections with the natural world, including participant workshops on nature-informed art interventions.

 

  • Self-Compassion & Hope: Learn hand-building techniques with clay and natural materials, exploring metaphors for healing.

  • Identity: Family/Community & Self: Create genogram maps and shadow portraits using natural elements, focusing on personal and community identity.

​

  • Mobile: Bridge Between Air & Earth: Craft a mobile that symbolizes the connection between air, earth, and personal energy, using woven vines and found objects.
